Handmade ice cream sticks

Steaming and Softening
Place the cut wood pieces in a steamer and steam for 15–20 minutes. This allows the wood to absorb water and swell, softening the bark and facilitating subsequent peeling.
Peeling
Gently remove the bark from the surface of the wood pieces with a knife or scraper, leaving a smooth core.
Drying and Polishing
Place the peeled wood pieces in a drying oven or air dry until completely dry.
Smooth the surface with sandpaper (starting with coarse sandpaper and gradually increasing the finer texture), removing any burrs and ensuring a smooth feel.
Moisture-Proofing (Optional)
Lightly apply a layer of food-grade paraffin wax or a small amount of edible vegetable oil to the surface of the wood to prevent cracking after the wood absorbs moisture.
Quality Inspection
Inspect each piece for cracks, burrs, or uneven areas, and remove any defective pieces.
